"Quilter's Heaven"

I belong to a group of quilters known as the Quilt Babes (we used to be known as Quilt Buddies but my husband renamed us.) There are 11 of us, two live out of the state. This past November, eight of us - Melanie Jensen, JoAnne Stanley, Marcia Case, Sue White, Leslie Hickland, Kim Dietz, Joan Mynahan and myself - gathered at Joan's home in Apollo Beach for a 3-day quilt-a-thon, otherwise known as the Quilt Babe's Fall Retreat. We all enjoy hand applique and all of us except Marcia are working on Susan Powell's Celestial Dream pattern. We hung Leslie's up for inspiration - she's further along than the rest of us. Who thought we would applique from morning until late into the night only stopping for forced marches of walking the dog and food? And what food!! Joan's husband, John, now known as the patron saint of the Quilt Babes, prepared a feast for us every day - all day - everything from scratch! Here's the menu:

The weather was perfect - we sat outside by the pool from early morning coffee thru late night snack. With our Ott Lights we were able to see well into the night. We were in Quilter's Heaven - good friends, great food, wonderful weather and stitching to our heart's content.

Can't wait until the next one ...
