The Best Way to Have the Most Fun

You already know the best way to have the most fun in any group is to be active ... but just what can you do? We all have different interests and abilities that are needed to make SSQA grow bigger and better. If you might think there is nothing that you are able to do, we will be glad to show you where you can get involved!

Here is a list of the many positions needed to run SSQA, along with a few details. Remember that a chairman's job is to see that something gets done (with helpers) ... not do the entire job alone!

Newsletter Editor I love doing the SunRays, but if you'd like a turn at it, I'll do something else! Or just help out by writing some articles, contributing info or asking shops for ads ... Sunnie
Public Relations Help us get the word out about our activities through flyers, newspapers & magazines, and more.
Area Rep Be the local voice of SSQA! Help the PR person distribute info to all the area guilds, shops, shows, etc; host the raffle quilt for awhile; bring local ideas and info back to SSQA!  We are working on a full job description and packet of information for you.
Symposium Hire teachers, scout locations, plan special activities and fun for our biennial education event. This area needs plenty of helpers!

Meeting Coordinator Be the contact & support person for groups who want to host a meeting! Help with questions and scheduling.
Quilt Nanny You keep track of the raffle quilt (and tickets), getting it to the area reps to show around the state.
Ways & Means We have really needed someone put their attention on fund-raising activities for SSQA. There's enough money to run this organization as is, but if we want to get into sponsoring something major for the quilters of this state, we need to be more effective & organized in this area.
Quilt Documentation Besides figuring out how to deal with the previous records stuck in Tallahassee, it may be time to start up this program again so it matches the national database (see AQSG page).
Historian Take the pictures, write the stories! If you can't be there, be sure someone else is covering it.
Florida Folk Festival We need to have an organizer to line up our participation in this event. It ties right in with PR and could even be a fund raiser, as we can sell both SSQA and guild quilt tickets!
E-Rays Our quick communication system! Keep the e-mailing list and send out important info as needed. This would be a great job for anyone who has a computer, wants to be involved, but is not able to travel...we really need someone to fill this role, as "suesew" is now our president!
Other jobs No doubt some things have been missed. Or there might be a need that you can create your own position to fill!

So just pick an area or two you'd like to be more involved with.

Some of these jobs already have chairs,
but everyone likes a break sometime, or is always seeking helpers!
