1,000,000 Pillowcase
Challenge
|
 |
|
|
Pillowcases are fun and easy to make...and very useful
for anyone who receives them. A pillowcase is a
colorful gift of cheer to a person who is ill, a
helpful item for a child being moved around through
the foster care system, a caring touch for anyone who
is in need.
This is sponsored by American Patchwork & Quilting
magazine, and the pillowcases are being collected to
give to local charities.

I am asking all our members
make just ONE PILLOWCASE for the 1 million Pillowcase
project. Yes, just one and send it to either Kathy Stubbs
Ward or Barbara Stewart and they will turn them in to one
of the groups listed on the pillow case site or to one
suggested by a member under SSQA’s name. If you have a
group you would like them sent to, send that information
along with your pillowcase and one or more will be
selected depending upon how many are received. Since I am
asking all members to do this, I made 2 pillowcases in
just over an hour, which means you should be able to make
one in less than an hour. Mine are going into the mail
tomorrow. The pillow cases can be a plain or fancy, your
choice. If you need a pattern you can go to the 1 Million
pillowcase challenge website where you will find a variety
of patterns. I would like to see all 170 reach the
Outreach Committee by the first of August. |

Please make at
least one pillowcase and send it to
Kathy Ward

|
|
You may also suggest a charity
anywhere in the state who could use the pillowcases. Kathy
Ward and co-chair Barbara Stewart will divide the
contributed cases and send them to the organizations. |

|
August 1st was the deadline. |
| |
Many shops and guilds are joining in on this huge
undertaking...even if you are making cases for your
local group, please make some for SSQA, too. We'd like
to have at least one or two to represent each member.
This is a great project for gathering together some
friends and sewing a pile of pillowcases!
