The Sunshine State Quilters
Association is the 21st century version of a quilting bee. Our
members are involved in every aspect of quilting from doing,
learning and teaching to sharing their love of quilting. Our
organization offers meetings with classes, a newsletter and the
ability to make contact with guilds and other quilters in every
part of the state. Please browse our website, contact member
guilds for information and visit our vendors. It will bring you up to date information on what
is happening in the state.

Hello all SSQA Members!
Spring has sprung here in the Sunshine State (Isn't it
paradise all year round?) and some of our members are
heading back to the cold north. Aren't we lucky that we
can live in an area of the country that is beautiful, so
much of the time and doesn't get really cold! (at least
for an extended period of time).
The Mt. Dora meeting was a success and great fun was had
by all who attended! Betsy O'Neill and her committee (the
Quilting Sisters) were full of hospitality. Great cookies,
too! It is so much fun to meet other quilters from
Florida. We share such a great hobby (way of life in
quilting) that you become instant friends! And Mt. Dora is
such a great town...we were able to walk through the town
and enjoy window shopping (well, some of did more than
"window" shop!)
This is such an exciting time for us with the SSQA Grant
Program. The committee is meeting this month to go over
the applications and make a decision. This will be the
first grant in our new program that we will offer to help
guilds with their Documentation Days. If your guild is
planning an event sometime in the future, please look at
the SSQA Grant information.
Maybe SSQA can help you with your expenses.
We have some new board members, and we welcome them to our
SSQA Board. Remember, we have eRay updates on Tuesdays
when there is new information to inform you about. Isn't
email a great way to stay in touch!
I would love to see what you, our members, are doing in
quilting....please email me pictures of some of your
projects and give me a little background of yourself. I
would love to hear from you.
Look for information about our fall retreat in the
newsletter...it will be fun and exciting...you get to be
in a great place to quilt without having to cook meals or
watch TV, and have a relaxing time.....you know "Girls
Just Want To have Fun!" That is us, see you November
14-16th.
Piecefully,
Dori Hawks
